In this session I’m exploring the standalone operation of the Akai MPC One, creating a classic G-Funk Instrumental.
I started off recording a bass guitar lick into the device (which you can hear distorting initially because the sampler was also in monitor mode for the same inputs). Once I edited the bass guitar parts, I used some internal MPC One effects (Autowah) to give the guitar more of an envelope filter effect. All of the additional keyboards and synths are generated using the internal instruments from the MPC One. The drums come from my own collection of drums from previous MPCs.
At some point we should have a conversation about how the modern Akai MPC line stacks up against the iPad, as there are many interesting similarities.
Let me know what you think about the track in the comments.
Be Blessed!
