In this video I’m showcasing an experimental live beat making setup using 2 iPads simultaneously to create a West Coast inspired Boom Bap beat using Korg Gadget 2.

Gear used in this performance:

iPad Pro 10.5 (A1701) – This iPad handles all of the keyboard style instruments and synths.

iPad Mini 4– This iPad is handling the drums, external MIDI sequencing, audio tracks and samples.

Korg Kaos Pad 3 – This devices is used to trigger all of the master effects such as filters, beat repeats and tape stops.

Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 Mk1 – This serves as my main audio interface connected to the iPad Pro.

Roland A49 MIDI Controller – This is the main keyboard used to play all of the melodic parts.

Critter and Guitari Organelle – This multi functional device is used to generate the plucked string/koto sound which serves as the main melody. In this setup, its is connected via MIDI to the iPad Mini 4.

Korg NanoKey Studio – This device is connected to the iPad Mini 4 to trigger drums and samples as well as external MIDI devices.

Soundcraft Signature 10 Mixer – This mixer is used to route the live audio signals to the recorder during the session.
