You need to use a Multichannel version of Maschine in Logic to get mixer tracks. When you instantiate Maschine in Logic, use the “Multi Output (16xStereo)” or “Multi Output (16xMono)” version. Once you have that setup, you need to assign the Maschine sound outputs to the individual outs in Maschine. I will try to get a video of this soon.

Instead of Assigning “Sounds to Midi Notes” you would need to assign “Sounds to Midi Channel” and assign the sound to an unused midi channel.

“Sounds to MIDI Notes” places the entire group of pads on the MIDI channel you select in the Dialog box. This feature is useful when you want to trigger a drum kit from a DAW. Sounds to MIDI Channels” places each pad on a separate MIDI channel. This feature is useful when you want trigger a VST or a Maschine Instrument Sound from your DAW.

Thanks so much for this man. Ive watched it about a half a dozen times since getting Maschine and i didnt really get what you were saying at first. I kept trying to force it into Logic and getting frustrated. So i finally challeneged myself to make an entire remix in Maschine so i split the stems up into many samples and exported them out of Logic as seperate files that I systematically organized into groups for Maschine.
Within an hour a really organic an interesting groove began to emerge and I was amazed. I kept hearing your words about getting away from the linear mindframe of composing and I got it. To me its almost as if you were sculpting a piece. You constatntly move around it. Checking this angle and that and really seeing it as a whole instead of overly focusing on one small section and neglecting the vibe and feel. You work on one scene, jump over to another to hear how that sounds against it, make an adjustment, play them together. Try flipping them around. Swapping out patterns. You can do this so smoothly and quickly. It didnt make composing easier per se it just focused the creative energy in the right direction and forced me to be fluid and wide open to the happy accidents. You just cannot move this fast in Logic (as much as I love it).
Sorry to be so wordy. Its just been on my to do list to write and thank you for this.
This is one of the most useful videos I’ve ever watched in the field of music production. Much appreciated!

Thank you for the awesome tutorial about setting up maschine and logic it was a big help.
Everything seems to work fine, however is it possible to use the Maschine’s Keyboard pad mode when recording in Logic?
Ive tried to record a bassline in Logic with the maschine in Keyboard pad mode but it doesnt work..Logic only record and plays one note..

THIS IS A VERY INFORMATIVE AND WELL PRESENTED VIDEO, UNFORTUNATELY BEING A NEWBIE TO THE TECH. OF MASCHINE I HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO TOTALLY FIGURE OUT AND SET UP THE INTEGRATION OF MASCHINE AND LOGIC. I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE STEPS IN THE VIDEO BUT WHEN I GO TO THE LIBRARY AND CLICK ON THE CHANNELS I CAN’T ACCESS THE VARIOUS GROUPS. EVEN AFTER THE MIDI BATCH SETUP. #2 WHEN I TRIGGER THE RECORD BUTTON ON THE LOGIC TRANSPORT IT STARTS PLAYING THE PATTERN OF THE KIT AND I’M NOT ABLE TO RECORD…WHAT I’M I DOING WRONG?

Awesome video, I have the same set up as you so this is great. One question: I am used to using more than one instance of Maschine in Logic (with different signal chain processing for each). How would I set up a second or third instance of this? Do I need to change the channels that are available to each maschine instance? A bit confused!

I’ve never heard of this issue, are you guys using the Maschine Controller in Midi Control mode to trigger the sounds? Holding [Shift]+ [Control] from the Maschine Controller activates this mode. Use [Shift]+[>] from the Maschine Controller to scroll through the midi control templates in Maschine. I usually use the Massive template simply due to it having all pads mapped for each Midi Octave Starting from C-1 to C6. Switching to Group E in the control mode allows you to control the selected track in logic from root note C3, which is where Maschine Sets the root note by default in the Sound MIDI Batch Setup. Each time you perform sound MIDI batch setup in Maschine, it will default to the last setting that you used, meaning you would have to manually change the setting for each group you wish to Map. Sound MIDI Batch Setup does not apply to all groups automatically. Make sure you all are running the latest version of Maschine as well!
